The list of European countries that suspended vaccination by the anti-coronavirus vaccine astrazeneca, has lengthened.

On March 12, certain European countries (Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Austria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria and Luxembourg) had decided to suspend the Astrazeneca vaccine by prevention, due to fears linked to cases of blood clot training in several patients.

Yesterday, the Netherlands decided, in turn, to suspend, as a precaution the use of the Astrazeneca vaccine against the COVVI-19, until March 28 inclusive, after “possible side effects” were reported in Denmark and Norway, without proven link at this stage.

Ireland has also added to the list of these European countries as well as Germany, which has also decided to suspend the use of the vaccine from the Anglo-Swedish laboratory Astrazeneca “as a preventive”, after the reporting of side effects.

The Paul-Ehrlich Medical Institute, which advises the government, “believes that other examinations (are) necessary”, after cases of blood clot training in people vaccinated in Europe.

In Tunisia, the Minister of Health, Faouzi Mehdi announced on Friday March 12, that no objection was issued against the acquisition of the anti-Cavid-19 Astrazeneca vaccine, believing that the decision of certain countries to suspend the use of this type of vaccine is preventive, and not a prohibition.

As part of the supply work by the vaccines necessary for the fight against the coronavirus in Tunisia and following the obtaining of the Astrazeneca laboratories of the World Health Organization Agreement on February 23, 2021, the Ministry of Health announced, on February 26, 2021, the obtaining of the Astrazeneca vaccine of an exceptional and temporary authorization to market Tunisian for the acquisition of 500 thousand doses.
