Sales of Gaza Cola finance the reconstruction of a hospital in Gaza

The Israeli strikes have caused the destruction of more than half of the Gaza hospital infrastructure since the start of the conflict. Among them, the Al-Karama Hospital, located in the north of the territory, was one of the first targets before being completely destroyed in August 2024. To contribute to its reconstruction, an original initiative was born: a committed soda, the Gaza Cola.

This drink, recognizable by its red can, wants to be an alternative to major international brands. Designed by Osama Qashoo, a director of Palestinian origin, it is part of an economic and united approach. Since its launch in August 2024, more than a million and a half of cans have been sold. The project aims to make consumers aware of the economic implications of consumption choices and to offer concrete support to the victims of the conflict.

All of the profits is intended for the reconstruction of the Al-Karama hospital, which served around 300,000 people before its destruction. Pending its rehabilitation, temporary installations have been set up to ensure care, and the revenues generated make it possible to finance the salaries of the caregivers, up to around 200 euros per month. Each day, nearly 1,000 patients are supported.

During an event organized in London, Mohammed Tahir, a recently mission surgeon in Gaza underlined the severity of the situation and the need for sustainable support. He insisted on the importance of rebuilding medical infrastructure and training nursing staff to deal with the long -term consequences of the injuries inflicted by the conflict.

If Gaza Cola has not yet found its place in major British brands, its distribution should start in France in March in certain restaurants.
