Russian president Vladimir Putin praised Thursday, August 24, 2023 the “contribution” to the offensive in Ukraine of the boss of the Wagner group, Evgueni Prigojine, despite his “serious errors”, and promised to “conduct to the end” the investigation into the crash of his plane.
“He was a man with a complicated fate” and a “talented businessman,” said Putin during a meeting broadcast on television, implicitly confirming the death of Prigojine.
Evugueni Prigojine, the owner of the Wagner group who was aboard the plane that crashed on Wednesday in Russia, was announced dead by the Russian media.
If uncertainty remains around the circumstances of the crash, it is impossible to ignore the possibility of an assassination sponsored by the Kremlin to punish the instigator of the mutiny attempt last June.
