While the whole world is preparing to face the new variant, for the WHO it is always necessary to bet on vaccination and massive screening.

In shared information on its site, the WHO specifies that essential international trips must absolutely remain a priority during the Pandemic of Covid-19, despite the appearance of the new variant.

“We expect more and more countries to detect the Omicron variant as the national authorities intensify their surveillance and sequencing operations,” read the site published on the site.

“WHO closely monitors the propagation of the Omicron variant, and studies are underway to better understand these changes and their impact on the transmissibility of the virus, its virulence, the diagnosis, the treatments to be adopted and the vaccines,” added the press release.

“It is recommended that countries continue to apply an approach based on evidence and risk, when implementing travel measures, in accordance with international health regulations (RSI)”, specifies the same source.

And to add: “National authorities of the countries of departure, transit and arrival can apply a multidimensional risk reduction approach to potentially delay and/or reduce the export or import of the new variant”.
