“Russia would only export cereals and other food products than to friendly countries,” said this Sunday, April 3, 2022, number two of the Russian Security Council Dmitri Medvedev.
The assistant secretary of the Council and former president, said that these Russian exports would be paid exclusively in rubles, the Russian currency, or in the currency of importing countries.
According to the Russian agency RIA, the countries concerned are those which have not taken any sanctions against Moscow after the invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian-Ukrainian conflict will have a huge impact on the world and more particularly on Tunisia which could record a shortage of essential products, in particular cereals.
Tunisia imports more than 50% of its wheat needs, most of which comes from Ukraine. On the other hand, imports of wheat alone represent more than 51% of food imports in the country, according to an analysis of the United Nations Food and Agriculture (FAO).
