In the 36th annual classification of billionaires on the planet unveiled by Forbes magazine, Africa has, at the end of 2022, 19, or 0.71% of the billionaires around the world. No Tunisian is there.

A few years ago, information had snowball in Tunisia. It relates to the number of billionaires in the country. It shows 70 billionaires which would weigh some $ 18 thousand billion. What credit can we give to this info which had reacted, at the time, the political class and stirred the whole population?

Apparently, the figure, it could not be more oversized compared to reality. In addition, the British cabinet, which reports, published in a report entitled “Wealth X 2012-2013” is not the most credible in the matter. Unlike the report of the Forbes magazine which is among the most precise.

According to this one, the total number of billionaires worldwide amounted to 2,668 at the end of 2022. According to this report, the year 2021 had 87 billionaires more.

Their cumulative fortune is estimated at 12.700 billion dollars in 2022, or 400 billion less than in 2021. You should know that no African is in the top 100 of the richest men on the planet.

In the African ranking, Nigerian Aliko Dangote is in the lead, for the 12ᵉ consecutive year, with a fortune estimated at $ 13.5 billion. He is followed by South African Johann Rupert & Family, whose fortune is estimated at $ 8.9 billion. He is ahead of his other compatriot Nicky Oppenheimer & Family, with a family fortune estimated at $ 8.7 billion.

Egyptian Nassef Sawiris occupies 5ᵉ row of African billionaires with a fortune of $ 7.7 billionaires. And classified in 6ᵉ position, the fortune of the Nigerian Mike Adenuga ($ 7.3 billion), thanks in particular to its investments in telecom and oil.

The United States has ever more billionaires than any other country, with 735, compared to 724 last year. China remains second, with 607 (including Hong Kong and Macao), followed by India (166), Germany (134) and Russia (83). Among the 2,668 billionaires identified, at the end of 2022 worldwide, 327 are women.

As of December 19, 2022, Bernard Arnault established himself as the richest man in the world with a fortune estimated at 163 billion dollars. He passes in front of Elon Musk who was so far at the head of the richest men in the world.
