More than 100 dead since the announcement of the Truce

Since the announcement of a cease-fire agreement supposed to relieve Gaza on Thursday, January 16, Israel has been intensifying its strikes, killing at least 101 Palestinians, including 27 children and 31 women. These deadly attacks, which left 264 injured, mainly strike Gaza City, already ravaged by weeks of bombing. While the Truce must come into force on Sunday, the Palestinian civilians continue to pay a heavy price, in silence.

In this context, the international community remains spectator. To date, 46,788 Palestinians have been killed and 110,453 injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023. Figures that translate an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy. However, these broken lives seem to weigh very little in the face of Israeli political calculations.

In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces a rebellion in his own government. Two ultra -nationalist ministers threaten to resign if the Truce is validated. Far from looking for a peaceful outcome, these political figures require the continuation of the war and the maintenance of a repressive policy towards the Palestinians.

For Mustafa Barghouti, a Palestinian leader, these procrastination is only a strategy for delaying the inevitable. “Netanyahu can no longer block the Truce, despite its manipulations,” he said. But in the meantime, the bombing redoubled and the sufferings of the Gazaouis intensify. Each minute that passes without concrete action from the international community is a betrayal for the Palestinian people, who fights for their survival in the face of an implacable war machine.
