After two aborted attempts, a new humanitarian fleet has just taken off from Barcelona, with the clear goal of bringing food and medicines to the populations of Gaza, faced with a humanitarian disaster and an alarming famine.
Among the participants, figures such as Greta Thunberg joined the initiative, which mobilizes dozens of activists.
Mélenchon calls for a committed France
Jean-Luc Mélenchon, figure of rebellious France (LFI), was quick to react last Saturday on the occasion of his political school year. He clearly said:
It is not a simple symbolic declaration: in an older post, it also proposed that France is organizing a humanitarian air bridge, in addition to an official naval escort to protect the flotilla and guarantee the delivery of aid.
Mélenchon criticizes the French government a form of guilty passivity in the face of the current crisis, denouncing the urgency of concrete actions in the face of a famine already declared in the Gazaouie enclave.
For his part, the deputy Thomas Portes (LFI) took an even more direct posture by boarding one of the ships of the Global Sumud flotilla. It requires consular protection from France and a French military escort, to guarantee the secure passage of humanitarian boats to Gaza.
More broadly, this support from Mélenchon and LFI to the Palestinian cause is part of an assertive political line, marked by calls for recognition of the Palestinian State, stopping arms exports to Israel and the taxation of economic sanctions against such Aviv.
