Currently, the “terrorist” track is not excluded by the authorities while the Australian police are still looking for the mobile of this act
The assailant seems to have acted alone, said Australian Prime Minister Antony Albanese at a press conference.
Images of surveillance cameras broadcast by Australian media have shown a man with a large current knife in the shopping center, and injured people lying on the ground.
This type of attack remains rare in Australia. On November 9, 2018, an individual armed with a knife killed a person and injured two others in a street in Melbourne before being killed by the police. The crime had been claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.
