President Kaïs Saïed took part, Friday, November 1, 2024, in the celebrations of the 70ᵉ anniversary of the Algerian revolution, marked by a military parade in the Algerian capital.
Invited by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, he was welcomed upon his arrival Thursday evening at Houari Boumédiene airport.
The festivities started the day before, at midnight, with a lifting of colors and fireworks fire in the streets of Algiers. This Friday, a parade of the land, air and sea armed forces paid tribute to the martyrs of Algerian independence. President Tebboune officially launched the parade by reviewing the troops, escorted by a troupe of Cavaliers de la Garde Républicaine and a motorcycle squadron. Seventy cannon strokes then resonated to underline the importance of this historic anniversary.
Installed alongside other heads of state in the official gallery, Kaïs Saïed attended this ceremony which recalls the close and fraternal links between Tunisia and Algeria, and celebrates the sacrifices made for the freedom and sovereignty of Algeria.
