Israel strikes Sanaa airport

Israeli fighter planes led targeted strikes on Tuesday on Sanaa International Airport, the Bastion of Houthis in the Yemeni capital, according to several local media.

Violent explosions were heard in the airport area, causing a movement of panic among the inhabitants.

These strikes are part of a series of reprisals launched by Israel against the armed group supported by Iran, in reaction to repeated attacks of missiles and drones that have targeted its territory.

The Israeli army had previously issued a warning, evoking imminent reprisals if new shots were hitting Israeli civil sites.
This military escalation follows a missile shooting on Sunday against Ben Gurion airport, which caused several injured and damaged part of the facilities.

The Israeli response started on Monday, with bombing on the strategic port of Hodeida and a cement center located in the Bajil region.

At 1:30 p.m., Hizam al-Assad, senior official of the Houthi movement, reacted in a declaration to the Qatari channel Al-Arabby TV. He said that these strikes would in no way move the position of his movement. “We will continue to support the Palestinian cause and the people of Gaza,” he said.

He also accused Israel of “raping the sovereignty of Yemen” and of “targeting civil infrastructure in a logic of collective punishment”.
