The interim strength of the United Nations in Lebanon, also called Finul, accused this Friday, October 11, the Israeli army of having led shots on one of their positions, injuring several peacekeepers. These strikes occur the day after similar shots, largely denounced by the international community.
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the Israeli army of having led fire on a position of the peacekeepers located in southern Lebanon and “condemned in the strongest terms the intentional and systematic shots of the Israeli army on the interim United Nations in Lebanon (Finul), the last of which targeted (…) the Sri Lankan basis.”
The Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres denounced in the wake of “intolerable” acts and a “violation of international humanitarian law”. The finish confirmed during the day that “two peacekeepers” were injured in “two explosions”.
In the wake of this new attack, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday that it had summoned the Israel ambassador to France, believing that “these attacks constitute serious violations of international law and must stop immediately”, denounced the Quai d’Orsay in a statement published on X.
On Thursday, the UN force deployed in Lebanon and Israel accused the Israeli army of having targeted its HQ located in southern Lebanon and already injured two Indonesian national helmets.
“The soldiers of the Israeli army also shot a position of the United Nations (…) in Labbouneh (…), touching the entrance to the bunker where the peacekeepers took refuge and damaging vehicles and a communication system,” said the UN.
Finally, the Finul affirms that the Israeli army “deliberately fired” on Ras Naqoura, a place of “tripartite meetings before the start of the conflict”. In total, the finish denounced on Thursday of three of its positions, reports AFP.
Shots against the finish, on Thursday, sparked an uproar on the international scene. In addition to France, the United States has said it “very concerned”, while Italy said that Israeli fire “could constitute war crimes”. Indonesia also “firmly” condemned these shots against two of its nationals.
The peacekeepers, present in Lebanon since 1978, have more than 10,500 soldiers to try to apply their peacekeeping mission, especially since Israeli bombings against Hezbollah became daily in addition to the land forays of Israel in southern Lebanon.
