Iranian strike: at least 10 dead, areas close to Tel Aviv affected

The escalation between Tehran and Tel Aviv crossed a new threshold this morning, June 15. In retaliation for a series of Israeli strikes that have targeted civil and energy infrastructure in Iran, including the Shahran oil site in Tehran, Iranian forces launched several missiles on Israeli territory, causing the death of at least ten people according to medical sources cited by several local media.

Missiles have affected several regions, including the surroundings of Haifa and Tel Aviv. In Bat Yam, south of the Israeli metropolis, six dead have been confirmed, and dozens of disappeared are still wanted under the rubble.

Israeli president Isaac Herzog called this day “terrible”, denouncing “Iran’s criminal attacks” and calling for national unity. He spoke of a still provisional assessment: at least eight dead and dozens of injured.

On the Iranian side, the figures are much heavier. According to official media, Israeli bombings in the last two days have been at least 80 people, including 20 children, and nearly 800 injured.

In this climate of regional conflagration, US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to work for de -escalation. But these calls for restraint struggle to convince.

As a sign of rupture, Iran announced the cancellation of the sixth session of nuclear talks with the United States, denouncing the “hypocrisy” of the Western powers in the face of Israeli aggression.
