At the dawn of this Tuesday, January 16, Iran announced that it has struck, using ballistic missiles, “terrorist” targets in Syria and Iraq, killing at least “four civilians” in Iraqi Kurdistan according to local authorities.
The strikes targeted in particular Erbil, capital of autonomous Kurdistan in northern Iraq where the Iranian revolution guards assured having targeted and destroyed “a spying headquarters” which they attributed to Israel, just as was targeted “a rally of anti-Iranian terrorist groups”.
The United States has condemned these attacks by Iran in Iraqi Kurdistan and said they were “opposed” to these “irresponsible missile strikes” which “undermines the stability of Iraq”, according to a statement from the State Department.
Furthermore, revolution guards also announced that they have identified in Syria “the places to gather commanders and the main elements linked to recent terrorist operations, in particular the Islamic State and have destroyed them by pulling a certain number of ballistic missiles”.
