Algeria has been fighting, for days, several fires that have made many victims. In total, 39 fires have ravaged 14 wilayas (departments) in recent days, and some have not been mastered to date.
The firefighters continue their fight against forest fires in the north and the extreme east of the country, the day after violent fires which left at least 38 dead including 11 children and more than 200 injured.
Standing, on the road to El Kala, near El Tarf, a city of 100,000 inhabitants, “a tornado of fire took everything in a few seconds, most of the dead were surrounded as they visited an animal park,” said a local journalist.
Near Souk Ahras, an important fire is still underway in a mountainous area. The local media evoke scenes of panic the day before in this city of 500,000 inhabitants.
