A Hamas leader told Al Jazeera that the movement’s management committee, chaired by Khalil al-Hayya, escaped to an assassination attempt led by Israel.
This Tuesday, Israel struck the group of negotiators in Hamas while meeting in Doha to discuss the ceasefire proposal from US President Donald Trump concerning the Gaza Strip.
The Qatari government firmly condemned this attack. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the “loose attack” operation targeting residences of members of the Hamas political bureau in Doha.
The press release stresses that this assault constitutes a “violation of all international laws and a serious threat to the security of citizens and residents of Qatar”. Qatar warned that it will “not tolerate this reckless Israeli behavior” or “no action aimed at the security and sovereignty of the country”.
