Gaza: Famine gets worse, the UN alerts to an unprecedented deterioration

The World Food Program (PAM) sounds alarm on the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, where civilians die of malnutrition and where the attacks against aid distributions are continuing.

90,000 children and women suffer from severe malnutrition

The World Food Program (PAM) alerted on Monday on an “unprecedented” humanitarian deterioration in the Gaza Strip. In a press release relayed by the media, the UN agency claims that nearly 90,000 children and women suffer from severe malnutrition and that a third of the population does not eat for several days.

PAM also deplores the attack on Sunday against civilians who came to seek food, an attack by Israeli occupation forces, despite their commitments to facilitate aid deliveries without military intervention.

PAM expressed its “deep concern” in the face of violations of humanitarian law, while reaffirming its attachment to the principles of independence, neutrality and impartiality, which found its relationship with civil communities.

The organization calls on the international community to put pressure on all parties so that humanitarian aid reaches hungry families “in complete safety and without hindrance”.

995 Palestinians killed since May 27

Since May 27, 995 Palestinians have been killed, 6,011 injured and 45 missing, according to the medical services of Gaza, in what some describe as “deadly traps” around humanitarian aid distribution. Repeated attacks against convoys and civilians in search of food aggravate an already extreme crisis, under blockade for months.
