The Israeli attacks redoubled intensity in the Gaza Strip, while in Al-Quds, the coloned incursions to the Al-Aqsa mosque stir up tensions.
At least 27 Palestinians were killed Wednesday in several attacks by the Israeli army in different sectors of the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Among the victims, eight people were killed while they were waiting to receive humanitarian aid. The Israeli bombings have touched several densely populated areas.
Since Tuesday, nearly 100 people have been killed, more than half of whom have already suffered from malnutrition. This dramatic assessment is part of the context of an in progress war since October 7, 2023, which, according to local authorities,, more than 187,000 martyrs and injured, mostly women and children, with more than 11,000 missing and hundreds of thousands of displaced.
Provocations at the Al-Aqsa mosque
Meanwhile, in occupied Al-Quds, dozens of Israeli settlers again stormed the Esplanades of the Al-Aqsa mosque, under high police protection. Organized in groups, these incursions were accompanied by provocative towers, while the Israeli police transformed the old town into a real military barracks, deploying its forces at the gates of the holy place.
The Al-Aqsa mosque, the third holy place of Islam, is in the center of recurring tensions. The historical status quo guarantees access to the mosque to Muslims for prayer, and to non-Muslims for simple visits without religious rites. However, visits accompanied by Jewish prayers, which are now more frequent, arouse strong reactions among Palestinians and the international community.
These provocations are added to an explosive regional context, marked by an intensification of violence, an aggravation of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and a radicalization of tensions in Al-Quds.
