Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak died on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Galaa military hospital in Cairo, at the age of 91, Egyptian media reports.
He held the post of Egyptian president for 30 years, from 1981 to 2011, after having succeeded Anouar Sadate in 1981 Suiye at the assassination of the latter. In February 2011, he was overthrown following the Egyptian revolution and chased from power by the demonstrators.
Mubarak had been imprisoned and sentenced in June 2012 by Egyptian justice to life imprisonment following the death of demonstrators on Place Tahrir. He was acquitted and then released in March 2017.
