Flotilla for Gaza: dozens of Tunisians and Algerians forced to abandon

Tunisian journalist Morad Dalansicorrespondent for the Al-Mayadeen chain and member of the international flotilla to break the blockade of Gaza, confirmed his return to Tunis after the failure of navigation attempts from Sicily.

In a declaration on his Facebook page, he explained:
“Friends and colleagues have contacted me to learn about our situation. I want to clarify that I have returned to Tunisia for two days. All our attempts to start towards Gaza from Sicily have failed for reasons officially presented as technical and mechanical. Twice, we left Italy and sailed for several hours, before having to return to the port. In the end, reaching the flotilla became impossible. »»

Immobilized ships in Sicily

At least Seven ships, mainly Tunisianstayed at the quay in Sicily after failing to take the sea. Several dozen Tunisian and Algerian volunteers had to give up continuing the trip and returning to their respective countries.

Morad Dalansi spoke of “disturbing facts” that occurred around these preparations, without wanting to go into detail for the moment.

The journalist wanted to express his solidarity with the boats which continue their mission in the eastern Mediterranean:
“Our hearts are with the flotilla that approaches the Palestinian coast. We pray for the safety of our friends and all the participants. »»

The flotilla, made up of several boats from different countries, tries to reach Gaza in order to denounce the blockade imposed on the Palestinian enclave.
