The Libyan Parliament appointed, this Thursday, February 10, 2022, the former Minister of the Interior, Fathi Bachagha to replace Abdelhamid Dbeibah as Prime Minister.
The Libyan Parliament voted unanimously in favor of Fathi Bachagha to occupy the post of head of government, confirmed the spokesperson for Parliament, Abdallah Bliheq after a session in Tobrouk (East).
Abdelhamid Dbeibah, appointed head of the government of national unity last March to unite the country’s divided institutions and supervise the preparation of the elections, had informed in recent weeks that he would only give up power from a government out of the ballot box.
Dbeibah would also have escaped an assassination attempt at dawn this Thursday, February 10, reported Reuters. Unknowns opened fire on Dbeibah’s car while he was going home.
The Libyan media spoke of an assassination attempt, but no official declaration was published by the Dbeibah office or the Ministry of the Interior about this incident.
