Facebook and Instagram are accused of blocked accounts and deleted content in the context of the war between Hamas and Israel. They were pinned by Human Rights Watch (HWR).

The Human Rights Watch organization accuses, in fact, in a 50 -page report, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) of having operated systematic censorship on messages of support for Palestine on its platforms since October 7, when the war was triggered in Gaza.

HWR has noted more than a thousand examples of censorship support expressions for Palestine, all listed in a report. From “Palestine Free” to “Stop the genocide” via “ceasefire now”, many slogans have been the subject of censorship or have been deleted, underlines the organization.

HWR also notes that these slogans have been regularly deleted on Facebook or Instagram since October 7. Worse, the emoji of a Palestinian flag in a comment is often masked.

Accounts have even been suspended from having mentioned the term “Hamas” even without bias towards the Palestinian organization. In total, the survey conducted by HWR, until November 28 on online content from more than 60 countries on five continents, mainly in English, pinning 1050 cases of censorship, including 1049 in support of Palestine and one in Israel.
