During a speech in Geneva, Amir Ohana strongly attacked European countries favorable to the creation of a Palestinian state, going so far as to suggest “to install it at home”.
Speaking at the International Conference of Presidents of Parliaments, organized at the UN headquarters in Geneva, the president of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, made controversial remarks targeting European countries having announced their intention to recognize a Palestinian state.
“Install a Palestinian State in Europe”
He assimilated this recognition to a “reward for Hamas”, accusing these states of contributing to the instability and the effusion of blood.
In a sarcastic tone, he said: “If you want to create what you call a Palestinian state, install it in London, Paris, in your countries, which are more and more like the Middle East. »»
The words of Amir Ohana aroused indignation: the delegations of Iran, Palestine and Yemen left the room as a sign of protest even before the start of his intervention.
France, the United Kingdom and Canada targeted
Several Western countries, including France, the United Kingdom and Canada, recently announced their intention to officially recognize a Palestinian State at the next United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for September 2025.
These announcements are part of an increasing diplomatic movement in favor of the two -state solution.
