A variant of the COVID-19, little known so far, has been detected in a cluster in Bordeaux where the authorities have provided massive screening. The variant is suspected of being very contagious.
Identified, Thursday in the Bacalan district, in Bordeaux with around thirty cases recorded yesterday, more than 46 cases were identified and the subjects are rather young.
“During the screening of patients, it was found that there was an anomaly and suspected that it was not a usual English variant, but having a particular change, it was confirmed in the sequencing,” said Professor Patrick Dehail, medical advisor to the Director General of the Regional Agency for New Aquitaine. “We suspect greater contagiousness,” he added.
This is a + variant of concern + (VOC), that is to be worrying, such as English and Indian variants. His strain is English but with a mutation.
