In France, the fifth wave, which has not yet reached its peak, is accompanied by a revival of the number of contaminations.

Indeed, 72,000 new cases of contamination were diagnosed in 24 hours on Monday, December 6, said Olivier Véran, Minister of Health, who evokes a level never reached “since the start of the pandemic”. The previous record, around 70,000, dated from early November 2020.

But according to the Minister of Health, who was involved in France 2, a slowdown in epidemic growth was found, going from +60% of cases in one week to +30% currently.

However, he points out that this fifth wave has not yet reached its peak and that it should happen by the end of December.
