China prohibits trade and consumption of wild animals
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

China has decided to ban the trade and consumption of wild animals. The decision was approved this Monday, February 24, 2020, by the Standing Committee of the Chinese Parliament.

Trade and especially the consumption of wild or exotic animals such as ceremonies, rats, snakes, giant salamanders and cubs are legion in China.

Chinese experts also believe that the coronavirus appeared on a Wuhan market where wild animals were sold for human consumption. The coronavirus was also spotted in December on this market.

Chinese scientists believe that a mammal has been able to reservoir to allow him to adapt to humans or to other animals.

We remember that for the Sras (severe acute respiratory syndrome), scientists had identified the bat as a “reservoir” animal and the civet as “intermediate host”.

Wild animal trade was also prohibited during the SRAS crisis in 2002-2003, a coronavirus whose transmission was also linked to the consumption of wild animals.
