The attack took place in the Tillabéri region, in the southwest of the country, near Burkina Faso, where armed individuals killed 19 passengers from a bus including two police officers and two other people in a truck. The bus and the truck were then burned.
The attack also made five seriously injured including a police officer. There are seven survivors on the bus while the two occupants of the attacked truck died charred.
This region, known to be unstable, has been the theater since 2017 of bloody actions of jihadist movements linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group (IS) since 2017.
