On Saturday April 26, a violent explosion occurred in port Shahid Rajaï, near Bandar Abbas, in southern Iran, injuring more than 400 people. According to the authorities, the incident was caused by the explosion of several containers on the platform.
This port, strategic for the Iranian economy, has suffered significant damage, and the shock wave was felt at more than 10 km. The first vice-president Mohammad Reza Aref ordered the opening of an investigation.
Disposed images show a large plume of black smoke. The explosions of this magnitude remain rare in Iran, although industrial accidents are frequent.
