A “friendly shot” mistakenly hit an American fighting aircraft on Sunday December 22, 2024 above the Red Sea. The two pilots survived.
Two American navy pilots survived a serious incident on Sunday above the Red Sea, when their fighter was accidentally affected by a missile fired by an American cruiser, the army announced.
According to a press release from the US central command (Centcom) for the Middle East, one of the crew members suffered light injuries. “The incident is not linked to a hostile attack,” said the army, which evokes a possible case of “friendly shooting” the subject of an investigation.
According to the Centcom, the Missile Missile cruiser USS GetTysburg, by mistake, fired on an F/A-18 plane having taken off from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier with the two pilots, who were fortunately able to get unscathed.
