American visa: foreign students in the crosshairs after the death of Charlie Kirk

The United States is taking action. Those who celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk risk the immediate revocation of their visa. Foreign students are concerned.

The tone is clear: “If you are here with a visa and you celebrate the assassination of a political figure, prepare to be expelled,” said Marco Rubio, American secretary of state, on X.

This measure does not distinguish: students, workers, visitors … all are under surveillance. Those who publish on social networks their support for the death of Charlie Kirk are in the crosshairs.

Christopher Landau, assistant secretary of state, also called to report foreigners who “glorify or rejoice” the event.

This policy is a continuation of already severe measures: thousands of visas had been canceled for publications deemed “problems” by the American administration. Pro-Palestinian students had notably been targeted.

Revocation of the visa can lead to immediate expulsion from the territory. Tunisian students and other foreign nationals must measure each online publication.

Civil rights and freedom of expression are at the heart of the debate. But for Washington, the line is traced: to celebrate the death of an American citizen, it is to put himself outlaw.

America will not Host Foreigners who Celebrate The Death of Our Fellow Citizens.

Visa Revocations Are Under Way. If you are here we have visa and cheering on the public assassination of a political figure, preparation to be deported. You are not Welcome in this country. pic.twitter.com/dqys2oaek7
