The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Laamamra, announced that Algeria has decided to break diplomatic relations with Morocco, from Tuesday August 24, 2021.
The announcement of this measure intervened at a press conference organized by the Minister who explained that “the decision to break relations will not harm the Algerian and Moroccan citizens residing in the two countries”.
The Algerian diplomat also accused Morocco of having committed “inamicial and hostile acts” against Algeria.
Last Wednesday, the High Security Council, chaired by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had decided to “review” relations with Morocco, accused of being involved in the deadly fires that ravaged the north of the country.
