The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this Sunday that Bashar al-Assad had “resigned” from the Syrian presidency and left the country, without revealing its destination.

The ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said: “After negotiations between Bashar al-Assad and several parties involved in the armed conflict on Syrian territory, Assad decided to resign from his post as president and leave the country, while giving instructions to start a process of peaceful power transition. »»

Rebel groups announced on Sunday in a speech on Syrian public television the fall of the “tyrant” Bashar al-Assad, ensuring that having released all prisoners “unjustly” detained, calling on citizens and combatants to preserve the properties of the state.

It was only enough for the rebels led by the Hayat Tahrir al-Cham group to enter Damascus and reach the flight of President Bashar al-Assad.

The Prime Minister said he was ready on Sunday to cooperate with the “leadership” that the people will choose and to any procedure of “passing” of power.
