Faced with diplomatic tensions with Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his wish to restore a constructive dialogue with Donald Trump, while offering a partial Truce to promote peace discussions.
In a message published on X, the Ukrainian leader said he was ready for an immediate suspension of air and sea hostilities, notably prohibiting missile and drone strikes on civil and energy infrastructure. However, this initiative depends on a similar commitment to Russia. “We want to move forward quickly to the next steps and work with the United States to achieve a solid agreement,” he added.
I WOULD LIKE TO Reiterate Ukraine’s Commitment to Peace.
None of Us Wants An Endless War. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody Wants Peace More Than Ukrainians. My Team and I Stand Ready to Work Under…

This announcement comes in a context of tensions with Washington, exacerbated by a stormy meeting between Zelensky and Trump in the White House. Following this exchange, the American president decided to suspend military aid in Ukraine, accusing kyiv of lacking commitment in the peace process. Zelensky immediately asked for official clarifications on this decision and insisted on the importance of a respectful dialogue with Washington.
In addition, the Ukrainian president said he was ready to finalize the agreement with the United States on the exploitation of mining resources, whose signature had been delayed due to disputes with Trump. The latter could announce the adoption of the agreement during a speech at the congress, according to sources close to the file.
In Europe, the American decision to suspend military aid in Ukraine has aroused reactions. Ursula von der Leyen unveiled a European defense support plan up to 800 billion euros, while France, through the voice of its European ministers and European affairs, reiterated its support for kyiv. Emmanuel Macron also praised Zelensky’s desire to reconnect with Washington and appease tensions.
While Ukraine seeks to maintain its alliances in the face of Russia, the outcome of the discussions between kyiv and Washington will be decisive for the continuation of the conflict and the perspectives of peace.
