The World Health Organization (WHO) sounded alarm this Thursday, March 4, 2021, concerning an increase in the number of new cases of COVI-19 in Europe after six weeks of decline.
The WHO Regional Directorate has, in fact, noted “a resurgence in central and eastern Europe and an increase in new cases in several western European countries where rates were already high”.
Last week, new cases of COVID-19 in Europe increased by 9% to reach a little over a million. The WHO Regional Directorate therefore advocates accelerating vaccination knowing that in all 53 countries in the European WHO region, 8 have not yet started their vaccination campaign.
