The Syrian opposition armed forces have announced that they have “released” the entire rural region of western Aleppo after violent clashes with the forces of the Syrian regime, confrontation which caused dozens of deaths on both sides and led to the cut of the international highway leading to Damascus.
The armed opposition launched at the dawn on Wednesday a vast military operation called “dissuasion of the attack”, affirming that it was aimed at ahead of a planned offensive of the forces of the regime and their allies against its bastions in the rural regions of Aleppo and Idlib, in northwestern Syria.
Several factions participate in this operation, including Hayat Tahrir al-Cham and other groups affiliated to the Syrian national army, linked to the opposition.
For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said that the army collaborates with Russia and “friendly forces” to regain control of the territories and restore the previous situation.
