The World Health Organization (WHO) announced, this Wednesday, March 19, 2020, that the first tests of a COVVI-19 vaccine started.

“The first vaccine trial started, only 60 days after China shared the genetic sequence of the virus,” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, CEO, during a press conference in Geneva.

The WHO chief describes this stage of “incredible realization”, while adding that the WHO organizes a study in many countries in which some of these unstarted treatments are compared with each other.

For the UN agency, “this vast international study” is designed to generate the solid data that the world of science and medicine needs, in order to show what the most effective treatments are. He announced the implementation of a data exchange program on different processing of COVI-19 around the world. ” According to him, the new program will help identify the most effective treatments.

According to Dr. Tedros, more than 200,000 cases have been reported to WHO and more than 8,000 people have lost their lives. And more than 80% of all cases come from two areas: Europe and the Western Asia-Pacific region.
