India announced, this Wednesday, March 24, 2021, the discovery of a new “doubly mutant varying” of the coronavirus.
“These (double) changes give an immune exhaust and increased infecture,” the Indian Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The country, which is experiencing rapid spread of the virus, would therefore refer that this new variant would be the source of the active recovery of the epidemic, especially in the Maharashtra region where more than 41 thousand new cases were recorded in a single day.
Doctor Randeep G in Gleria, Director of the Indian Medical Sciences Institute (AIMS) and a member of the Task Force COVID in the State of the Maharashtra, confirmed that this Indian variant has an “immune exhaust mechanism” and can cause a reinfection by threatening acquired immunity via vaccination or disease.
