Tripoli is preparing to welcome the third presidential summit as part of the tripartite mechanism between Libya, Algeria and Tunisia, marking a new stage in strengthening relations between these neighboring countries.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf announced at a press conference dedicated to the assessment of Algerian diplomacy for 2024, that preparations for this event are underway. The summit is expected to be held at the start of the year, reports Lana’s Libyan news agency.
A tripartite mechanism in full consolidation
Ahmed Attaf stressed the importance of this consultation mechanism, proposed by Algeria and adopted by Libya and Tunisia. This framework aims to intensify cooperation and meet common challenges, particularly in terms of security, economy and development. According to the Minister, the previous meetings made it possible to develop concrete projects to deal with the issues shared by the three nations.
The tripartite mechanism was launched last February, at the first summit organized in Algeria on the sidelines of the forum of the gas exporters. The leaders of the three countries were committed to organizing these meetings at regular three -month intervals.
The second summit was held in April in Tunis, bringing together Tunisian President Kais Saied, Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and Mohamed Menfi, president of the Libyan presidential council. During this meeting, discussions focused on key themes such as the fight against terrorism, migration flow management, and economic recovery in the region.
The summit planned in Tripoli is perceived as an opportunity to deepen this dynamic of cooperation. It intervenes in a regional context marked by growing security and economic challenges, but also by hopes of stability and prosperity.
Towards reinforced regional integration
The expectations for the Tripoli summit are high, in particular with regard to the adoption of concrete measures to promote stability in Libya, strengthen security at borders and develop cross -border economic projects.
With this meeting in Tripoli, the tripartite mechanism pursues its objective of establishing a structured and sustainable dialogue between these three key countries of the Maghreb, thus reinforcing their role on the regional and international scene.
