A plane from the company Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) with a hundred people on board crashed this Friday, May 22, 2020, in Karachi, the South capital, said the Pakistani aviation authority.
The authorities are still trying to confirm the number of passengers, but at the start they are 99 passengers and eight crew members, the spokesperson for the aviation authority of Pakistan said. He added that the flight was coming from Lahore, the country’s second city.
According to the images broadcast by public television, the aircraft crashed in a residential area.
The disaster occurs only a few days after the country has authorized the resumption of internal commercial flights. For more than a month, domestic connections had been suspended to avoid spreading the coronavirus.
