Another shipwreck off Italy. The boat left Sfax in Tunisia sank on the way to Lampedusa.
According to Western media, 41 migrants died in a shipwreck last week in the central Mediterranean, the Ansa news agency reported on Wednesday August 9, citing testimonies of survivors who have just reached the Italian island of Lampedusa.
Four people who survived the sinking told rescuers that they were on a boat carrying 45 people, including three children.
The boats were small metal boats apparently parted Thursday from Sfax, in Tunisia. After talking with survivors, IOM officials estimated that at least 30 people have disappeared, “reports AFP.
“Those who allowed them to leave, or forced them to leave, are mad criminals unscrupulous,” castigated the police chief of Sicily.
“A very agitated sea is planned for the coming days. Hopefully they are going to stop “to leave people,” by this sea, is to send them to the slaughterhouse, “he added.
