Under the figs of Erige Sehiri will represent Tunisia at Oscar 2023 for the best international film

The National Center for Cinema and Image has just published a press release, according to which the film Under the figs (2022) Directed by Erige Sehiri has just been chosen to represent Tunisia at Oscar 2023 for the best international film.

“” On September 08, 2022, the Committee approved by the Academy met under the supervision of the National Cinema and Image Center to choose the film which will represent Tunisia in Oscars in the category of best international film. This committee is made up of: – Mr. Khaled Azek – Ms. Najla ben Abdallah – Ms. Maryam Joubert – Mr. Naceur Khemir – Mr. Moslah Kraiem – Mr. Ibrahim Eltaief – Mr. Tarek Ben Chaabane

The committee considered that the Tunisian film which will represent Tunisia at the 2023 Oscars in the category of the best international film is Under the figs D’Erige Sehiri. This film meets all the eligibility criteria set out in the appointment rules published by the Academy. The restricted list of Oscars will be announced on December 21, 2022 and the final vote will take place on March 07, 2023. The 95th Oscar ceremony will take place on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will be broadcast live on more than 200 channels around the world.

The Oscar 2022 for the best international film had been awarded to the film Drive My Car of the Japanese director Ryozek Amgachi. »»

Subsequently, the film had been selected at several film festivals.
