Tunisian film Northern (2017)produced by Walid Mattar and with the main roles Mohamed Amine Hamzaoui and Abir Bennani, will be in Tunisian cinemas from January 10, 2018.

Synopsis:
North of France. The Hervé factory is relocated. He is the only worker to resign himself to it because he pursues another destiny: to become a fisherman and to transmit this passion to his son. Suburb of Tunis. The factory is relocated. Foued, unemployed, thinks of finding a way to treat his mother there, and above all to seduce the girl he loves. Hervé and Foued’s trajectories look alike and respond.

Walid Mattar studied cinema in Paris. He has been a member of the Tunisian Federation of Amateur filmmakers since the age of 13. Between 2003 and 2012, he made 6 short films: The battleship Abdelkarim In 2003, Turtle son And Sbeh el khir (with Leyla Bouzid) in 2005, Da gorgio In 2006, Convictions In 2010, Offering in 2011 and Baba Noel in 2012.
Northern is his first feature film.

Northern won in 2016, In the Takmil section of Carthage Cinematographic Days, the price EUNIC (9000 euros) and the price Mad Solution (Distribution and marketing in the Arab world (a service offered worth $ 15,000).

In 2017, This film also won three prizes during the 28th edition of Carthage Cinematographies Days, or:

  • Tanit d’or Taher Cheriaa of the first work
  • Best scenario Prize

Northern had also drawn attention by M. and Mme Patrice Dalix, members of the Association Ciné-Croisette and organizers of the Tunisian Cinema Festival in Cannes, who would like to program it during the 3rd edition of the festival which will take place in March 2018.

Northern will be released in French cinemas on March 28, 2018.
