The management of the Carthage International Festival announced, in a statement published this Wednesday, the cancellation of the singer’s show HĂ©lène SĂ©gara, initially planned as part of the 59th edition of the Festival.

She reaffirmed her attachment to the constant position of Tunisia in support of the Palestinian people in their struggle for the recovery of all of their rights and the establishment of its independent state with al-Quds al-charif as capital.

Management underlined its desire to include, in this edition, shows expressing solidarity with Palestine and its people, celebrating their resilience and their struggle, and defending their right to life and freedom.

Without the press release noted it clearly, a wave of criticisms started on social networks against Hélène Ségara. In question certain positions performed by Internet users such as a political position in favor of Zionism.

The opening show, entitled “QAA al-Khabia” by musician Mohamed Garfi, will stage the history of Tunisia support for the Palestinian cause since independence. The musician Riadh Fehri, in his show Red Carpet 2, will pay tribute to the children of Ramallah. The voice of the Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti will rise in Imagine that you listen to your soul, a spectacle of the musician Karim Theality.

Furthermore, the management said that the programming will include two Palestinian artists known for their commitment to their homeland and for having documented, each in their own way, the atrocities of the occupation: Mohammed Assaf and Saint Levant.
