Tunisia smokes good vibes

The ancient theater of Carthage turned into a real paradise reggae Sunday July 28, 2024, during a memorable concert of the legendary “The Wailers”. The atmosphere was so authentic that it only missed the smoke and the characteristic smell of the Ganja to complete the painting – fortunately, the incense with jasmine was there to save appearances, even if it seemed to go up in smoke a little quickly!

As soon as they entered the stage, the group took the crowd into a musical trance worthy of the best Jamaican evenings. The concert, the flagship event of the 58th edition of the Carthage International Festival, revisited the great classics of Bob Marley, creating a perfect osmosis between the group and the public who swung like palm trees in the breeze.

The singer Mitchell Brunings, with his bewitching voice and his dynamic presence, so well embodied the spirit of Marley that we almost thought the ghost of reggae Man himself on stage. Spectators, young and old, sang hymns in chorus like “is this love” and “No Woman No Cry”, transforming the theater into a real temple of reggae where even ancient stones seemed to vibrate to the rhythm of the skank.

The performance was also marked by the diversity of the public, with the notable presence of the United States ambassador to Tunisia, Joey Hood, who has proven that even diplomats can wiggle on reggae when the opportunity arises.

“The Wailers”, in their commemorative tour of the 40th anniversary of the album “Legend”, proved that reggae, with its catchy rhythms and its universal messages, continues to bring together and make hearts vibrate-and perhaps even make a little hover, but only thanks to music, of course!
