Tunisia and Austria are celebrating this year the distant roots of their contemporary diplomatic relations. Indeed, exactly three centuries ago, on September 23, 1725, a peace treaty was signed between the Habsburg Empire and the Regency of Tunis.
This historic setting was praised by Mr. Stephan Vavrik, Austrian Ambassador to Tunisia, during his speech on the occasion of the national holiday last night in the suburbs of Tunis.
Many cultural events planned in celebration of the Tercentenary were announced by the ambassador.
An organ concert by Robert Lehrbaumer is planned at Tunis Cathedral on Sunday, November 23. In addition, a commemorative work will be presented on Thursday, November 27 at the Ksar Said Palace.
Finally, on December 4, a literary and musical evening presented by Paula Kraft and dedicated to Haydn and Aboul Kacem Chebbi will be organized at the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace.
