Faced with the complexity of current procedures, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs plans to reform the legal framework governing the participation of foreign artists in cultural events in Tunisia. The objective: promoting creativity, guaranteeing the rights of all parties and strengthening the country’s cultural attractiveness.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs wants to simplify the participation procedures of foreign artists in cultural events in Tunisia, while ensuring the protection of the rights of all stakeholders.
The legal framework supervising the participation of foreign artists in cultural activities in Tunisia is about to be revised. A working session, chaired Monday June 2 by the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Amina Srarfi, brought together representatives of several ministries (tourism, finance, interior) as well as the central bank, to examine a possible amendment to the decree in force.
This revision aims to adapt the procedures for granting authorizations to the realities of the artistic sector, especially in summer festivals, tourist establishments and private events. Participants stressed the importance of a more flexible approach, which takes into account the specifics of artistic work while respecting the country’s tax and financial obligations.
“The current authorization system should neither be a brake on creativity nor an instrument for restriction of freedoms,” said Amina Srarfi, insisting on the need for a balanced legal framework, protector of the rights of the state as much as those of artists. She also pleaded for a simplification of the procedures, so that they are understandable for artists and applicable unambiguously by the authorities concerned.
The Minister has emphasized protection against any form of legal or financial exploitation. The reform intends to guarantee a fair and secure environment for foreign artists, with clear texts on their social and professional rights.
