On Saturday, the Tunisian film “La Voix de Hind Rajab” by Kaouther Ben Hania won the Public Prize in the Perlak section of the 73ᵉ Film Festival of San Sebastián, in Spain. Inspired by a true overwhelming story that occurred in Gaza, this Tuniso-Française co-production continues its harvest of distinctions and stands out as a global cinematographic event.
A new triumph for Kaouther Ben Hania
Already crowned at the 82ᵉ Mostra of Venice where he had won the silver lion, Hind Rajab’s voice confirms his place in international competition. In Saint-Sébastien, the public acclaimed this 89-minute documentary that combines reality and fiction to tell the last moments of Hind, a six-year-old girl trapped in a bombed car in Gaza in 2024.
The film is a co -production between Tanit Films, Film4 Productions and Film Four, with the support of the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Doha Film Institute. He was also chosen to represent Tunisia at the 2026 Oscars in the category of the best international film.
The film is based on the real recording of the desperate call of Hind Rajab at the Palestinian Red Cross. Kaouther Ben Hania transforms this voice into a symbol of innocence in the face of violence and advocacy for human dignity.
During its world premiere in Venice, the projection had sparked a 23 -minute standing ovation, with brandish Palestinian flags and resounding solidarity slogans in the room.
An international expansion international career
After Venice, Toronto, London and now Saint-Sébastien, “the voice of Hind Rajab” continues its world tour. The film has already opened the Doha Film Festival and will close the Cairo International Film Festival next November. Its Tunisian release took place on September 17, and its first African was expected on November 21 in Cairo.
Hollywood figures like Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara also support the film as an executive producers, strengthening its influence on the world scene.
