Director Kaouther Ben Hania presents her new film “La Voix de Hind Rajab”, selected to represent Tunisia at the 2026 Oscars. The long-awaited feature film will be released in national preview on September 10, 2025, then in all Tunisian rooms from Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Exceptional Hollywood support
The film benefits from remarkable international support: Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuarón and Jonathan Glazer join the project as executive producers. This massive support, far beyond solidarity, is an artistic and political commitment, placing this Palestinian drama at the heart of world cinema.
The involvement of Brad Pitt via his company Plan B (alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner), known for producing oscarored works such as 12 years in Slave or Moonlight, gives the film a considerable international scope.
Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara, recognized for their artistic and political commitment, provide their moral and media support. In addition, Alfonso Cuarón, Oscar -winning director (Gravity, Roma), and Jonathan Glazer, awarded for The Zone of Interest, add a strong memorial and political dimension to the project.
A radical work imprint of memory
Presented as a world premiere in official competition at the Venice Mostra, the film will enter the Golden Lion during the 82ᵉ Edition beginning on September 3, 2025.
Kaouther Ben Hania has designed a singular work through a radical device: the film is shot in a unique place and is based on the real audio recording of the last exchanges between Hind and the rescuers of the Red Crescent as a narrative thread. He refuses any spectacular reconstruction, favoring the fear, silence and loneliness of the child.
Context and distribution
The director had felt deeply upset after hearing, during a stopover in Lax, the recording of Hind Rajab imploring help. She explains: “The ground had collapsed under my feet”, and she immediately decided to stop everything to make this film.
This drama tells the poignant story of Hind Rajab, a six -year -old Palestinian girl murdered in January 2024, trapped in a car screened with bullets while trying to flee Gaza. His desperate calls for the Red Crescent continue to resonate as a cry of helplessness. The silent but terrible images of this tragedy inspired a work with a strong emotional and symbolic load.
The cast brings together Amer Hlehel, Clara Khoury, Motaz Malhees, Saja Kilani. International co -production and support come from Tanit Films, Film4 Productions, MBC Studios and Plan B.
Festival -goer
After its first in Venice, the film will also be presented at the Toronto Festival (Special Preseations section, from September 7, 2025), then at the San Sébatian festival, in Busan and at the London Festival, confirming its status as a flagship project of the international cinematographic school year.
The committee accredited by the Academy, under the aegis of the CNCI, met on August 27 and chose this film, meeting all the eligibility criteria to represent Tunisia at the 98ᵉ Oscars, whose ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026 in Los Angeles.
