The Ministry of Cultural Affairs deplored with immense sadness and deep sorrow the death of the eminent artist and actor Fethi Haddaoui, which occurred this Thursday, December 12, 2024, after a long fight against the disease.

Fethi Haddaoui began his artistic journey at the theater at the Ibn Charaf school, under the direction of the director Hammadi Mezzi, before joining the Troupe du Triangle Theater led by Professor Habib Chabeil. Later, he became an active member of the new theater troupe under the direction of the Tunisian Great Directors Fadhel Jaïbi and Fadhel Jaziri, as well as actress Jalila Baccar, among other major figures in Tunisian theater. He then joined the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art in Tunis, from where he graduated in 1986.

Haddaoui distinguished himself in complex roles, which criticism described as masterfully interpreted. Among his most striking theatrical performances are Al Awada and Arab, which were then adapted to the cinema, where he played the main role.

Since the late 1980s and the early 1990s, Fathi Haddaoui has marked the world of cinema and television with a rich career in Tunisian, Arab and international works. He notably participated in the film Halfaouine of the Ferid Boughedir Ferit director, as well as the gold plates of director Nouri Bouzid in 1986.

He collaborated with foreign directors, notably the French Serge Moati and the Italian Franco Rossi, which strengthened his international notoriety.
Fethi Haddaoui also established himself as an essential figure in Ramadanesque productions, distinguished in the Tunisian television landscape. He gained in recognition from the 1991 Ramadan season in the series on days like the wind produced by Salah Eddine Essid, then in the cult Ghadda series in 1992.

He also played main roles in the storm of Abdelkader Jirbi in 1993 and the harvest in 1994. His reputation was considerably increased thanks to his role as raw in the famous dramatic soap opera in Gazelles in 2008, as well as in the wheel of air broadcast during the Ramadanesque seasons of 2014 and 2015.

Throughout her career, Fethi Haddaoui has been awarded numerous prizes at national and international festivals. The latest distinction dates back to 2013, when he received the prize for the best actor at the Arab film festival in Oran, Algeria.

In this painful circumstance, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs sends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased as well as to the whole of the artistic community, praying to God to grant all patience and comfort.
