The President of the Republic, Kais Saïed, received, this Monday, November 7, 2022, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Hayet Ketat Guermazi, for a meeting mainly focused on the last edition of Carthage Cinematographic Days (JCC).
On this occasion, the Head of State wanted to return to the festival, believing that they tainted the JCCs and made him deviate from his objectives.
The Head of State held, in this sense, to rrapte the role of cinema clubs in Tunisia and young people, culture, libraries and publishing houses launched by the State.
He notably mentioned their disastrous situation, expressing the wish to revive cultural clubs while offering new methods adapted to the development of new technologies.
JCCs every two years
In addition, Minister Hayet Guettat Guermazi announced, on the Al Wataniya 1 channel last night, that the JCC will now take place every two years.
She also wanted to recall, in the same vein of ideas as the content of her meeting with Kais Saied, that JCCs are not a festival but cultural days.
“I am not satisfied with the red carpet and I reject this fashion that has been set up since 2009,” she said.
